Our Process
Discover
Our discovery phase is more than just asking questions about the project, it’s a chance for us to really dive deep into getting to know our clients, their visions, their needs and their priorities. The structure of this phase is individually tailored to each client and may involve a variety of forms of user research. Placing importance on these initial discovery tasks helps us to ensure we fully grasp the unique challenges and opportunities each client faces, and how our digital solution can be used to solve these.
Define
Following the active discovery work and undertake an in-depth business analysis process, leading to the creation of a detailed project initiation report sign-off by the client.
This comprehensive project plan outlines the ‘MVP’ (Minimum Viable Product) which must be achieved through the project and ensures that our strategies are aligned with our clients’ expectations and objectives.
Design
During the design phase the ideas really start to come to life. The gathered project requirements are taken and translated into detailed sketches, wireframes, and prototypes, which act as blueprints for the final product. This phase is iterative, encouraging feedback and refinement throughout to ensure our client’s needs are effectively met. With a focus on both user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), our designers work to create a balance between functionality and aesthetics, setting the stage for our developers to turn the vision into reality.
Develop
Using state-of-the-art technologies and iterative, agile methodologies, we actively shape and refine our client’s visions into tangible digital solutions. Our development team works efficiently and effectively to ensure that every feature and interface is streamlined and aligned to the brief. All solutions are rigorously tested for both safety and accessibility, with ample opportunity for tailored user-testing processes to be undertaken by clients prior to acceptance and launch.

Deliver
Our commitment to our clients extends well beyond project completion. We offer all clients a comprehensive ongoing support service, including hosting, service management, proactive system monitoring and updating. Most of our clients also retain regular additional support hours from their dedicated account managers as part of their service agreements, giving them ongoing access to our team to help with additional requirements as their needs develop.

Sustainability
Front and centre of our values at Gemstone is a desire to support an environmentally sustainable future. We take active measures throughout our processes to ensure that our carbon footprint is as close to zero as possible. Our aim is for net carbon reduction. No small goal but one we are never the less committed to.
Measures we have taken so far include limiting staff travel and carrying out virtual meetings wherever possible. We also operate a completely paperless system which not only benefits the environment but is also quickly and easily accessible to our partners and clients.
There is always more we can do which is why in 2024 we will begin our efforts towards having a carbon reducing effect through our processes including opting for suppliers with carbon reduction goals as well as carrying out some of our own carbon reducing activities. Yes - that includes some members of the team actually planting trees… but also by supporting some of our environmental partners in their efforts to reduce deforestation and tackle inefficient supply chains.
